A Substation can be called a Node in a Transmission System, through which the Power Flows and where, a number of Devices are present for Voltage Transformation, Switching, Tripping , Monitoring , etc.
Types of Substation:
According to the Voltage levels, there are two types of Substation:
- Transmission Substation: They operate at the Voltages from 33 KV and above.
- Distribution Substation: They operate at the Voltages of 33 KV and below.
